St Peter's Live Viduals

Roof Appeal launch raises the roof

What an incredible launch to our roof appeal! On Saturday 19th of October we put on our biggest charity event to date, St Peter’s Live. A tremendous day of live music featuring six of the most exciting acts in the South West.

Kicked off by an enchanting performance by Marlborough’s own Ann Liu Cannon, the building was full from 2pm for a real upcoming star. Lloyd Edwards followed accompanied by guitarist Arte, they gave us an incredible set which really got the place abuzz. The first half of the fundraising event was rounded off by the beautiful sound of Josh Kumra, it was as though the heavens were in full support as sun flooded through the West End window.

The appeal had a real change of pace for the evening sessions as the bands rolled in! Fall From Ruin took to the stage and having them raise the roof with some awesome rock was a sight to behold! The momentum carried forward with the excellent Viduals, and that’s when the floor started to get really busy. We were truly blessed to have their contemporary indie rock liven up the room in preparation for our headliners Nothing Rhymes with Orange (NRWO).

The front of the floor took a decidedly younger, female lead as the Devizes based four piece took to the stage. But while they may be some good looking lads, it was their music that did the talking. You can see why many tip NRWO for the big time, many of their songs feeling like instant classics. ‘Friday Is Over’ and an energetic performance of their unique version of ‘Omen’ were particularly notable!

We had two goals for Live, give the community a day to remember and create awareness of our roof appeal. The extremely positive feedback we received during and afterwards certainly qualifies our first objective. The amount of generous donations received for the appeal so far, over £2000, has delivered on the second!

Thank you all for turning out, over 500 of you thought the day and your generosity in support of our appeal. That fundraising work is just getting started, we need to raise £60,000 to fix the roof and despite this incredible start, we’re only just scratching the surface.
