Hamish Brown (piano), who is originally from Marlborough, accompanies the Glaswegian mezzo-soprano, Beth Taylor in a song recital inspired by the sea. “Lauded for her ‘strong presence’, ‘sensational coloratura’ and ‘intriguing depth'”, Beth is at the onset of a major international career. She was one of the finalists in the Cardiff Singer of the World competition 2023 and has a busy career both in opera and on the concert platform. Beth and Hamish have performed on many occasions together, including at the 2024 Schubertiada, Vilabertran in Spain, where their recital was warmly reviewed, with Beth’s voice likened to the legendary Kathleen Ferrier and Janet Baker, and Hamish’s accompaniment described as “a magnificent pearly sound … the sonority of which seemed to infect the voice in a total symbiosis”.
There are no tickets required for this concert – seating will be available on a first come, first served basis and we hope you will feel able to give generously to the retiring collection in aid of St Peter’s Church Roof Appeal. A bar will be available in the interval.
