Comedy in Marlborough

A night of laughter at St Peters

Published: Sunday 8th September 2024 | St Peter’s Marlborough

It was great to see so many in attendance last night at our second stand up comedy event at St Peter’s.

Chuckle at the Church, hosted by the brilliant MC Sam Michael, who BBC Wiltshire called “the funniest man from Swindon” saw five very talented comedians take to the stage for an evening of laughter and entertainment.

Emma Coyne was first on the mic with her unique brand of Aussie humour, followed by Paul Hilleard who lit up the place with a hilarious mix of anecdotal and observational humour. Breaking the ice by acknowledging our Cardinal Coffee Shop as being a uniquely weird place that you can have a brew while reading the “tombstones” on the walls.

Our third act Micheal Kohlweg‘s recent migration to the U.S. provided some great material and the ‘gentle comedy’ of the incredible Charlie Bowers sent waves of infectious laughter through the building.

Headliner Jon Wagstaffe, Tewkesbury’s finest export, showed why he was top of the bill with a high energy set bringing the show to a climax. Covering everything from keeping the spark alive in the bedroom to ‘what’s your favourite vegetable?’, he further elevated a great show.

Thanks to all the acts for putting on a great evening, and to all that came to watch. Look out for Chuckle at the Church 3 – Coming Soon!
