We welcome you to join us at St. Peter’s Church for the four days of the Jubilee weekend where we will be celebrating this historical event with a Festival of Flags and Flowers and Tower tours.
On Thursday 2nd the east side of the churchyard will be available for people to bring their own picnics or just sit and enjoy the celebratory atmosphere of the traditional street party that is being held in the High Street from 2-5pm. On the west side of the church Tarte in a Box will be serving delicious food and drinks on both the Thursday and Friday, with live music.
St. Peter’s is renowned for its panoply of flags which are flown from the church tower on appropriate days of the year, and this will be an opportunity for you to see 25 of them hanging within the church whilst below each flag will be an information synopsis. Throughout the church there will be stunning summer floral displays. It promises to be a feast for the eyes in the magnificent surroundings of this 560-year-old building.
Tower tours will be available for three days of the Jubilee weekend (not Saturday 4th), from 10-4 pm. The tour guides will offer an historic insight into this iconic building and the history of Marlborough culminating in a magnificent vista over the town and surrounding countryside from the top of the tower.
Everyone is welcome to make use of the grounds on Thursday 2nd and join in the town’s party celebrations. On Thursday and Friday Tarte in a Box will be offering Jubilee themed picnic boxes, drinks and ice creams which can be purchased and enjoyed at tables laid out on the west side of the churchyard. If you wish purchase a picnic box, please pre order at firstname.lastname@example.org or speak to Jane 07808 152218.
We look forward to celebrating this landmark event with you.
