Katharine Gowers and Madeleine Mattar, March 27th

The next concert in our series of Brilliant International Musicians will start at 7pm.

It will feature Katharine Gowers (violin) and Madeleine Mattar (piano) playing piano and violin Sonatas by Mozart, Beethoven and Faure, as well as Tzigane by Ravel.

As many of you will remember, Katharine Gowers has played wonderfully for us in St Peter’s Church many times, since her first performance with the pianist Charles Owen in 1988 when they were both students at the Yehudi Menuhin School.

Katharine and Madeleine’s programme will be:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Sonata for piano and violin in Bb, K454

Ludvig van Beethoven
Sonata for piano and violin in F Major “Spring”, Op.24

Gabriel Fauré
Sonata no.1 for violin and piano in A Major Op.13

Maurice Ravel
Tzigane Rapsodie de Concert

The reason for the earlier start of the recital is that immediately following the concert there will be a short Q&A session with Katharine, at which audience members will be invited to ask any questions they may have about the concert and the music they have heard. We are encouraging students of music in the area to attend the recital in order to gain knowledge and appreciation from what will undoubtedly be a wonderful live performance. If you know of music students who might be interested, do please encourage them get in touch, so that we can set tickets aside for them – admission will be free.
