DESCRIPTION:Under the inspirational leadership of Phil Singleton\, Wantage Big Band will be visiting St Peter’s to perform a repertoire ranging from Glenn Miller classics to contemporary jazz. \nJoin Wantage Big Band live at St Peter’s for mix of classic big band\, modern toe-tappers\, and lots in between. \nThe seating for the evening will be tables with 5-6 chairs to create a more relaxed jazz club feel. \nWe have a bar running throughout for alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments. Beers start from £4.50 and wine £6.00. We do not offer teas and coffees at our music events due to speed and noise limitations. \nIt will be an evening to remember and we look forward to seeing you there. DESCRIPTION:Mishka Rushdie Momen (piano) \nHailed as ​ “one of the most thoughtful and sensitive of British pianists” (The Times)\, Mishka captivates audiences with her refined and expressive playing. Her wide repertoire focuses on Mozart\, Beethoven\, Schubert\, and Schumann\, whilst reaching back to Gibbons and Rameau. Committed to performing new music\, Mishka premiered An Inviting Object by Héloïse Werner at the Lucerne Summer Festival in 2022. \nHighlights of the 2023/24 season include debuts with London Philharmonic Orchestra performing Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto\, and Mannheim Chamber Orchestra performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.9 and Haydn’s Piano Concerto No.4. Notable orchestral engagements to date include City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra\, Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss\, and Britten Sinfonia. Mishka’s debut solo recording\, Variations\, was released in October 2019 \, featuring works by Robert and Clara Schumann\, Brahms and Mendelssohn. She was The Times Arts critics’ chosen nominee in the field of classical music for their 2021 Breakthrough Award\, and in 2024 she recorded to great acclaim a solo album for Hyperion\, Reformation\, featuring music by English composers of the Elizabethan age. \n  \nCatherina Lee (violin) \nCatherina is one of the most gifted and promising violinists to have emerged from Queensland\, Australia. She is described as possessing exceptional musicianship with a unique charm\, poignancy\, and sensitivity that place her in a league of her own. Catherina gave her first public recital at 9\, debuting with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at 13\, performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. At 15 she was accepted into the class of Gerhard Schulz\, at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. \nCatherina has collaborated with Steven Isserlis\, Kim Kashkashian\, Philippe Graffin\, and Wilfried Strehle amongst others\, and as a soloist she has performed with numerous orchestras throughout Europe and Australia\, including Göttinger Symphony Orchestra\, the Vienna Ensemble\, and Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra. \nNumerous masterclasses with a number of leading musicians have been enriching and supportive. These include Steven Isserlis\, Serguei Azizian\, Ivry Gitlis\, Boris Brovtsyn\, and Erich Gruenberg.
