SUMMARY:Let's Raise the Roof: The Magnificent AKs together with the Bebington Bittermen
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lets-raise-the-roof-the-magnificant-aks-together-with-the-bebington-bitte-tickets-1986888110825?aff=oddtdtcreator \n  \nYou are invited to an evening of stunning a cappella harmonies and laugh-out-loud fun with these two fine groups of men. Be prepared to sing\, laugh and maybe shed a tear or two ast hey share songs from the sublime to the ridiculous. Definitely not your ordinary male voice choirs. \nSt Peter’s is a much-loved Marlborough landmark and highly valued by audiences and performers alike. At a time when many venues are struggling with increased costs\, all proceeds from this concert will go to support the St Peter’s Charitable Trust and their work in preserving the venue for the community. \nThe Magnificent AKs are the uniquely hilarious award-winning singing machine from that tranquil corner of North Wiltshire\, Ashton Keynes. Nobody knows the exact reason why\, but in 2008 the men of the village started to sing. They sang about sheds. And duct tape. And beer. Infact\, they sang about everything that was important to them. From such humble beginnings the troupe has ascended the greasy pole to perform in (among other places) Bristol Beacon (formerly The Colston Hall) and The Roundhouse as well as appearing live on Radio 3’s ‘The Choir’. Singing on Windmills\, White Horses\, and at Stonehenge\,gave them the title for their first CD ‘Monumental’ and a later visit to the Giant’s Cause wayinspired their second recording ‘Gigantic’. Expect rich Georgian-inspired polyphony alongside a tuneful celebration of the 21st Century bloke. \nThe Bittermen are ordinary blokes who make an extraordinary sound. From Georgian laments\, to the West Coast sounds of the 1960s\, to straight-up sea shanties\, the Bittermen are a vocal collective that celebrates the age old tradition of men singing together.Formed in 2014 by their musical director James Sills\, the Bittermen are equally at home singing on the concert stage\, at festivals and especially in their spiritual home\, the Rose and Crown pub in Bebington\, Wirral. They have performed at both Liverpool cathedrals\, at events for BBCWorldwide and in 2021 provided the male vocals for the Guinness ad campaign “Always On Your \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Damian Lewis at St. Peter's - 'Sweet Chaos' Outstore
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS https://www.sound-knowledge.co.uk/collections/events/products/damian-lewis-at-st-peters?variant=45731075915962 \noin Damian Lewis to celebrate the release of his new album Sweet Chaos with an exclusive appearance at St. Peter’s Church from 6pm on Sunday 7th June. Following the success of his acclaimed 2023 debut Mission Creep\, which established him as a powerful and authentic new voice in British music\, Damian returns with his second album Sweet Chaos\, written from a place of hard-won clarity. \n\nWritten two years on\, it is bolder\, broader\, and at times more raw. “The first album was quiet and tender\,” Lewis says. “This new album is a bit angrier in places. You don’t know these things until you listen back: the extent to which your state of mind pervades the thing.” \n\n\nFor this intimate appearance\, Damian will perform a short\, stripped-back set\, showcasing the songs in their rawest form. The performance will be followed by a Q&A and signing event\, offering fans a rare chance to meet Damian and ask him about the stories behind the music. \n\n\n“Sweet Chaos is a story of a man whose life is gilded\, charmed\, blessed. A man in control upon whom chaos is visited\, but the chaos releases all manner of wonderful things. A freedom.”\n\n\nIf you’d like to attend this intimate performance in a beautiful setting\, album and ticket bundles are available for purchase\, featuring a copy of the new album (released 5th June on CD\, LP and an indies exclusive orange vinyl) and a ticket to the event. Standalone tickets are also available but we’d ask you to consider buying a bundle where possible- it’s better value for you and the album sales help both the artist and also us with organising these events. Tickets and bundles are available exclusively from Sound Knowledge in-store\, over the phone on 01672 511106 or via this page from 11am on Friday 27th March. \nPLEASE NOTE – BECAUSE OF THE PROXIMITY OF THE EVENT TO THE ALBUM’S RELEASE\, ALL TICKETS/BUNDLES ARE PICKUP-ONLY\, EITHER FROM THE SHOP AS FROM 5TH JUNE OR ON THE DOOR OF THE VENUE ON THE DAY. SUMMARY:Mystery Jets at St. Peter's - 'A Hole To See The Sky Through' Outstore
DESCRIPTION:TCIKETS : https://www.sound-knowledge.co.uk/collections/events/products/mystery-jets-at-st-peters?variant=46053743820986 \nWe’re thrilled to announce the return of much loved indie outfit Mystery Jets to Marlborough. The band will be playing a 45-minute set at St. Peter’s Church at 7.30pm on Wednesday 12th August to celebrate the release of their brand new album\, ‘A Hole To See The Sky Through’. \nTheir first album since 2020\, ‘A Hole To See The Sky Through’ is a conceptually rich\, inward-facing counterpart to 2016’s ‘Curve of the Earth’ (when the band last paid us a visit). Inspired by Yoko Ono’s artwork of the same name (used with permission as the cover art)\, the record embraces the idea of finding meaning\, hope\, and perspective through absence\, limitation\, and reframing. \nTickets and album & ticket bundles (containing one copy of the new album on CD or vinyl and one ticket) are available exclusively from Sound Knowledge online from 10am on Wednesday 8th July. \n‘A Hole To See The Sky Through’ is out 21st August 2026 on CD\, LP and an indies exclusive blue vinyl. We also have a handful of the super limited Dinked Edition if you’re interested in one of those\, purchase a standard bundle and message us about upgrading. We’d ask you to consider supporting the artist and us by buying the physical product bundles where possible- it’s better value for you and will help us to deliver these exclusive events to you in future. Standalone tickets are limited to one per basket\, but you can purchase as many physical bundles as you like. \nPLEASE NOTE- All tickets are collection-only for this one as the event takes place before the release of the album. We’d urge you to collect your tickets in advance from Sound Knowledge but\, if you can’t get to us before\, you can collect at the venue when doors open for the show. Please have your order number/confirmation email to hand. If you pay postage for a bundle\, this will be for the album which will be sent out to you to arrive on/around the release date of 21st August. \nUnder 16s must have tickets and be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. We can’t admit under-12s for this one. This is a STANDING event but please notify Sound Knowledge by email if you have any access requirements.

After four award-shortlisted novels\, he won the 2025 Nero Book Award for Fiction with Seascraper\, a fiercely atmospheric story set in a fictionalised version of his Southport hometown. The novel follows Thomas\, a 20-year-old shrimp shanker and aspiring folk musician whose quiet\, fog-bound existence is transformed by the arrival of a mysterious stranger promising a world far beyond the shoreline. Renowned for blending psychological suspense with vividly observed\, deeply human storytelling\, Wood brings particular authenticity to Thomas’s musical aspirations\, even lending his own voice to the character in the audiobook. A senior lecturer in Creative Writing at King’s College London\, Wood also supervised Helen Bain’s PhD on Sylvia Plath\, which inspired her debut novel Daffodil Days. Join Benjamin Wood to hear about the inspiration behind his award-winning fiction and his journey as one of Britain’s most acclaimed contemporary novelists.\n\n\n🕰️ Time\nStarts 10am\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n📚 Session\nHelen Bain and Sara Bayat – Hiscox Debut Authors\n\n\nℹ️ Summary\nAcclaimed debut novelists Helen Bain and Sara Bayat come together in conversation with Dr Nicola Presley to discuss two striking works that bring rural communities\, memory and identity vividly to life. In Daffodil Days\, Bain offers a richly imagined portrait of Sylvia Plath’s final years in Devon\, told through the voices of the townspeople who encounter her. Described by The Guardian as “deeply researched and utterly convincing”\, the novel explores the complexities of truth\, biography and belonging against the backdrop of Plath and Ted Hughes’s disintegrating marriage. In Hesket: A Norfolk Haunting\, Bayat similarly weaves together multiple perspectives to uncover the hidden histories and personal griefs that lie beneath the surface of an English village threatened by change. Blending psychological realism\, folklore and a profound sense of place\, both novels examine how people are shaped by their communities\, landscapes and the stories that endure long after they are gone.\n\n\n🕰️ Time\nStarts 11:30am\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n📚 Session\nMike Pitts – Island at the Edge of the World: The Forgotten History of Easter Island\n\n\nℹ️ Summary\nJoin Marlborough-based archaeologist\, journalist and author Mike Pitts\, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and former editor of British Archaeology\, as he explores the enduring mysteries of Easter Island through his acclaimed book Island at the Edge of the World. Best known for its nearly 1\,000 monumental stone statues\, Easter Island has long been the subject of myths\, speculation and misunderstanding. Drawing on the latest archaeological and scientific research\, alongside centuries of historical accounts\, Pitts challenges popular narratives about lost civilizations\, ecological collapse\, cannibalism and even alien intervention to reveal a far more complex and fascinating story. Described by the Mail on Sunday as “revelatory\, fascinating and wholly convincing”\, this compelling talk offers fresh insights into one of the world’s most enigmatic places and the remarkable people who created its unique culture.\n\n\n🕰️ Time\nStarts 1pm\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n📚 Session\nAmy Jeffs – Arthur: A New Life\n\n\nℹ️ Summary\nJoin bestselling author and medieval art and culture specialist Amy Jeffs as she reimagines one of Britain’s greatest legends in Arthur: A New Life. Drawing on original medieval and early modern texts\, Jeffs uncovers a richer\, stranger and more complex King Arthur: a larger-than-life warlord\, a hero raised by fairies\, a monster-slayer\, leader of the Wild Hunt and a king destined to rise again. From Merlin’s conception and the creation of the Round Table to the abduction of Guinevere and Arthur’s quest for empire\, Jeffs brings vividly to life a world of medieval citadels and volcanoes\, caves and riverbanks\, and journeys from Hell to the Otherworld. Alongside familiar episodes such as the sword in the stone and the building of Stonehenge\, she explores lesser-known legends and reveals how Arthurian stories were shaped by the political cultures of their time. Following the success of her Sunday Times bestseller Storyland and Wild\, Jeffs offers a captivating new perspective on England’s most enduring mythical king.\n\n\n🕰️ Time\nStarts 2:30pm\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n📚 Session\nPippa Grange – Life. Reclaimed\n\n\nℹ️ Summary\nJoin leading performance psychologist and coach Pippa Grange for an inspiring discussion of her acclaimed book Life. Reclaimed\, a powerful guide to escaping the pressures of constant achievement and redefining success on healthier terms. Drawing on her extensive work with elite performers in sport and business\, including the England men’s football team\, Grange explores how the relentless pursuit of excellence can lead to chronic overperformance\, exhaustion and burnout. Combining real-life stories with practical\, evidence-based strategies\, she introduces the concept of regenerative performance\, helping people reset priorities\, let go of false goals and build fulfilling\, sustainable lives without sacrificing ambition. Warm\, insightful and deeply relevant\, this event offers a chance to discover how to succeed while remaining healthy\, balanced and true to what matters most.\n\n\n🕰️ Time\nStarts 4pm\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n📚 Session\nGeraldine Roberts – The Rebel and the Peacemaker: The Incredible True Story of Mary and Charles Bagot\n\n\nℹ️ Summary\nJoin historian and biographer Geraldine Roberts as she uncovers the remarkable true story of Charles and Mary Bagot\, a Regency-era couple whose turbulent marriage and unexpected exile helped shape the future of international diplomacy. In The Rebel and the Peacemaker\, Roberts draws on years of meticulous research and exclusive access to the Bagot family papers to tell a fascinating tale of love\, scandal\, politics and ambition. Once the subject of intense society gossip\, the Bagots were dispatched to the United States as Britain’s first ambassadors at a pivotal moment in the young nation’s history. There\, their political skill\, cultural intelligence and personal charm helped ease Anglo-American tensions and established them as two of the most influential diplomats of their age\, with later postings in Russia and Canada. As the world looks ahead to the 250th anniversary of American Independence in 2026\, this captivating talk offers a timely opportunity to rediscover the extraordinary lives and legacy of a couple who helped transform relations between nations.\n\n\n🕰️ Time\nStarts 5:30pm\n\n\n\n\n\nMore Info & Book tickets
