SUMMARY:Roof Appeal: Beth Taylor and Hamish Brown
DESCRIPTION:Hamish Brown (piano)\, who is originally from Marlborough\, accompanies the Glaswegian mezzo-soprano\, Beth Taylor in a song recital inspired by the sea.   “Lauded for her ‘strong presence’\, ‘sensational coloratura’ and ‘intriguing depth'”\, Beth is at the onset of a major international career. She was one of the finalists in the Cardiff Singer of the World competition 2023 and has a busy career both in opera and on the concert platform.  Beth and Hamish have performed on many occasions together\, including at the 2024 Schubertiada\, Vilabertran in Spain\, where their recital was warmly reviewed\, with Beth’s voice likened to the legendary Kathleen Ferrier and Janet Baker\, and Hamish’s accompaniment described as “a magnificent pearly sound … the sonority of which seemed to infect the voice in a total symbiosis”.    There are no tickets required for this concert – seating will be available on a first come\, first served basis and we hope you will feel able to give generously to the retiring collection in aid of St Peter’s Church Roof Appeal.  A bar will be available in the interval.

SUMMARY:Chap's Choir & The Bebington Bitter Men Tickets only at the door
DESCRIPTION:Chaps Choir (London) & The Bebington Bitter Men (The Wirral) are coming to Wiltshire to celebrate singing and raise funds for mental health charity CALM. This is the second time these men’s choirs have combined forces to bring an evening of sonorous entertainment. Prepare for pop re-hashes\, snowy hunting calls\, songs of the sea and\, well\, lots of men singing …\n\n\n\nChaps Choir \n\nChaps Choir is a large male singing gang from London; say goodbye to the male voice choir most would recognise. The group has been sharing its joy-inducing\, heart-string pulling repertoire to audiences since 2013. \nTheir voices have filled the Royal Festival Hall\, The Union Chapel & other major London venues. Featured at Wilderness & Port Eliot festivals the choir has slowly built a name through its urbane entertaining presentation and unexpected repertoire choices. They’ve performed live on Saturday night prime time TV\, recorded at Abbey Road and been the subject of articles\, news pieces & podcasts exploring men’s singing & male community. \nCollaborations with artists & organisations include: Omar\, Joe Stilgoe\, Samantha Whates\, The Spooky Men’s Chorale\, CALM & The Choir With No Name. The choir has released a full length live album as well as numerous singles and video projects over the years\, aiding its mission to bring the metropolitan singing chap into the choral melee. They envision a world where all chaps (and ‘other’ men) can find their singing voice. \nThe choir was founded and is run by singer & choir director Dom Stichbury. Dom creates positive spaces that encourage men to express themselves through song and community. He performs with The Spooky Men’s Chorale and is one half of singing duo ‘Ben & Dom’. \n\n\nhttp://chapschoir.com\n@chapschoir\n\n\n \nThe Bebington Bitter Men\n\nThe Bittermen are ordinary blokes who make an extraordinary sound. \nFrom Georgian laments\, to the West Coast sounds of the 1960s\, to straight-up sea shanties\, the Bittermen are an a a cappella vocal collective that celebrate the age old tradition of men singing together. Formed in 2014 by their musical director James Sills\, the Bittermen are equally at home singing on the concert stage\, at festivals and especially in their spiritual home: The Rose & Crown pub in Bebington\, Wirral\, UK.  Over the years they have performed at both Liverpool Cathedrals\, at events for BBC Worldwide and in 2021 the Bittermen provided the vocals for Guinness ad campaign ‘Always On My Mind.’

SUMMARY:Ecstatic Dance Journey & Cacao
DESCRIPTION:Ecstatic Dance Journey & Cacao: Chakra Balance + Live Music\n \nJoin Alison from Just BE Sound and Movement Therapy and David\, Nomadic Therapist for this Ecstatic Dance Journey\, Cacao & Sound Bath – with live didgeridoo\, drums \, shruti and vocals. \nThe music will journey through the root\, sacral\, solar plexus\, heart\, throat\, third eye and crown chakras. \nEnter the space in sacred silence from 7.20pm and join us in meditation. \nAt 7.30pm\, sitting in circle\, you’ll be guided through a short centring practice\, with an invitation to scan the body\, emotions and mind. This practice is an opportunity to bring more presence to your experience and to connect more deeply with your self and your heart. \nAs we move into our cacao ceremony\, we pass our Guatemalan cacao around the circle with love\, before practicing gratitude and setting intentions together. \nWe’ll begin our movement journey together with a little guidance to warm up. The invitation is to disconnect the mind and connect with the body freely\, without self-judgement or fearing judgement from others. Movement is conscious\, intuitive and spontaneous as you allow the vibrations of the sound to resonate in whichever way feels right for you. Each dance journey is different\, with the music an eclectic mix of different genres. You’ll be invited to be curious with your exploration of your body and movements\, to bring moment by moment awareness to what’s moving through you. \nThe evening will close with a sound bath with didgeridoo\, handpan\, shruti and vocals\, a short closing circle with fruit\, and some optional time to socialise. \nTickets from: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/marlborough-ecstatic-dance-journey-cacao-chakra-balance-live-music-tickets-1302537377359?aff=oddtdtcreator

SUMMARY:The RNLI Lifeboat Concert 2025 - The Magnificent AKs
DESCRIPTION:The Magnificent AKs are proud to support the RNLI.\nThey are the singing blokes of Ashton Keynes\, a tranquil corner of North Wiltshire nestled between the nascent river Thames and the Cotswold Water Park. Maybe it’s the soggy conditions\, or something to do with gravel\, but nobody knows the exact reason why\, in 2008 the men of the village started to sing. They sang about sheds. And duct tape. And beer. In fact\, they sang about everything that was important to them\, occasionally donning a jaunty hat. \nFrom such humble beginnings the troupe has ascended the greasy pole to perform in (among other places) Bristol Beacon (formerly The Colston Hall) and The Roundhouse. They’ve appeared live on Radio 3’s ‘The Choir’ and sung on Windmills\, White Horses\, and at Stonehenge\, giving them the title for their first CD ‘Monumental’. Two tours to Ireland later (both times picking up awards at prestigious choral festivals) a visit to the Giant’s Causeway gave them the inspiration for their second recording ‘Gigantic’. \nExpect rich Georgian-inspired polyphony alongside a tuneful celebration of the 21st Century bloke. \n“Some of the most exciting singing in the UK. These guys will make your underpants shake!”\nMatthew Swann – Artistic Director Voices Now \nDoors open and licensed bar from 7pm. The performance starts at 7.30pm. \n\nBox Office:\nTickets £15 via EventBrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-lifeboat-concert-marlborough-2025-tickets-1145322663919. Tickets also available from The White Horse Bookshop \n

SUMMARY:Sound Knowledge Presents - The Lathums
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to be hosting a Sound Knowledge outstore with The Lathums on Tuesday 25th February.\nThey’ll be playing an intimate promotional set from 7.30pm in St. Peter’s Church to celebrate the release of their forthcoming new album ‘Matter Does Not Define’.\n\nThe Wigan indie four-piece have already had two consecutive UK No. 1 albums- their debut ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’ and 2023’s ‘From Nothing To A Little Bit More’- thanks to their stadium-sized hooks and frontman Alex Moore’s emotionally intelligent songwriting. New album ‘Matter Does Not Define’ was recorded at Liverpool’s Kempton Street Studios in the company of long-term creative guide\, John Kettle\, and producer\, Chris Taylor.\n\nIf you’d like to attend this intimate performance in a beautiful setting\, album and ticket bundles are available for purchase from Sound Knowledge (link below)\, featuring a copy of the new album (released Friday 28th February) and a ticket to the event. Standalone tickets are also available but please consider buying a bundle where possible- it’s better value for you and the album sales help both the artist and also us with organising these events. Tickets and bundles are available exclusively from Sound Knowledge in-store\, over the phone and via their website on sale from 10am on Friday 7th February.\n\nhttps://www.sound-knowledge.co.uk/collections/events/products/the-lathums-outstore\n\nUnder 16s must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. We can’t admit under-8s for this one. This is a standing event but please notify us by email if you have any access requirements.\n\nPLEASE NOTE – Albums will be posted out to arrive on/around the release date (in this case\, after the event itself). All tickets are PICKUP ONLY\, available to collect in advance from the shop or on the door of the venue. Please have your order number/confirmation email to hand when collecting.
