DESCRIPTION:Cards for Good Causes in St Peter’s Marlborough\nCards for Good Causes will be returning on Monday 1st November this year and will be with us daily in the lead up to Christmas. Cards for Good Causes is the UK’s largest multi-charity card and gift retailer supporting local and national charities. \nThey are a not-for-profit retail company which currently partners with over 70 charities throughout the UK providing both promotion and royalty income to each charity. They offer the most comprehensive range of cards and gifts for all occasions that directly supports the charity sector. \nStarted in 1959 by James “Jim” Jackson\, Secretary of the British Diabetic Association\, gathered a group of medical charities together to discuss the coordination of publicity for selling charity cards at Christmas to help promote the charities as efficiently as possible. \nCards for Good Causes will be open within St Peter’s Monday to Saturday\, 10am – 4pm. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Our final concert of 2025 takes place on Sunday 7th December at 7pm and features the return of Jâms Coleman (piano) with violinist Colin Scobie. They are treating us to a wonderful programme: Beethoven: Violin Sonata No 3 in E-flat major\, Op 12 No 3; Clara Schumann: Three Romances for Violin and Piano; Eleanor Alberga: No Man’s Land Lullaby; Elgar: Violin Sonata in E minor\, Op 82. Do please bring/tell your friends and join us to celebrate another outstanding year of music at the church performed by our Brilliant International Musicians. Tickets can be bought on line or on the door on the night – all money raised goes to support the invaluable work of the Trust which maintains Marlborough’s most historic building for the benefit of the local community and for generations to come. \nJâms Coleman – PianoPraised by BBC Music Magazine for his “thrilling variety… exquisite touch… and imagination at the piano\,” Welsh pianist Jâms Coleman performs as a soloist\, chamber musician\, and vocal accompanist. A graduate of Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music (awarded ARAM in 2023)\, he appears regularly at major venues and festivals\, including the BBC Proms\, Wigmore Hall\, Cheltenham Festival\, Aldeburgh Festival\, Leeds Lieder Festival\, and the Cello Biënnale in Amsterdam. \nJâms has a close duo partnership with cellist Laura van der Heijden\, whose album Path to the Moon reached over two million streams in its first week and was praised by The Guardian and Gramophone. His recordings also include works by Bridge\, Britten\, Pamela Harrison\, and Fanny Hensel for labels such as Champs Hill Records\, Resonus Classics\, and First Hand Records. He collaborates widely with leading singers and instrumentalists\, including Sir Bryn Terfel\, Claire Booth\, James Newby\, Jennifer Pike\, Timothy Ridout\, and ensembles such as BBC NOW\, Britten Sinfonia\, and the Marmen Quartet. \nColin Scobie – ViolinBorn in Edinburgh\, violinist Colin Scobie is recognised as one of the most creative chamber musicians of his generation. He began playing at the age of eight\, later studying at St Mary’s Music School and the Royal College of Music in London\, and has since given masterclasses at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. \nAs a concerto soloist\, Colin has performed to critical acclaim with ensembles including Camerata Nordica\, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment\, Arcangelo\, La Serenissima\, and the Scottish Ensemble.
